Programs & Activities
The Parks & Recreation Department offers over 17 different programs throughout the year and various community events that target families and people of all ages. We work with contract instructors and other Township departments to provide services to our community. Programs are coordinated by the Recreation Program Coordinator, Jill Kalbach.
Programs are held each season in either the Township Administration Building, the Silver Spring Community Fire Co. Social Hall, or the Cumberland Valley School District. Visit our remote Activities Pageto view activities or enroll online. Participants can also enroll at the Parks & Recreation Office (8 Flowers Drive) or by phone 717-766-1657.
Visit our local parks to enjoy fishing, walking, biking, bird watching, and other outdoor activities. The Township recently acquired a 54-acre Nature Preserve along Sample Bridge Road. The Preserve boasts an array of outdoor activities, including a 2-mile trail for walking/running and biking, bird and wildlife viewing areas, access to the creek for fishing or paddling, nature photography, picnicking, and cross-country skiing in the winter. Visit the Get Outdoors PA site to find more outdoor recreation activities.
Connect your class with nature and history in our local parks. To schedule a field trip to a park, contact the Program Coordinator, Jill Kalbach.
The Township offers 2 summer camp programs for 10 and a half consecutive weeks in the summer. The program is open to those entering first through eighth grade. Registration for the 2018 summer will open on February 6, 2018 for returning campers and residents, and on February 12, 2018 for non-residents. The camp is based in Eagle View Middle School which is in the Cumberland Valley School District Complex. Campers are exposed to nature, educational lessons, fitness, sports, arts and culture. Guest speakers join us each week to introduce children to the various trades in our area and fields trips are taken twice a week to local parks, amusements and pools.
