Emergency Response Information
In the case of emergencies or disasters requiring shelters within the Township, there are numerous designated sites including local fire departments, churches and other community buildings. During an evacuation or shelter activation, the location would be chosen geographically by the scope and type of emergency. This information would be relayed via a mass message from the Township through our emergency alerting software as well as media notifications. In extreme circumstances there would be door-to-door notifications.
During any type of disaster or severe weather event, the Township Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) would be the point of contact and oversee the command process. During general emergencies, one or more volunteer officers from the Township Fire Companies (Silver Spring & New Kingstown) would on scene and running those incidents, in collaboration with the EMC.
Any incident that involving shelter in place or evacuation due to a police incident would be decided upon by the Township's Chief of Police. The EMC would work with the Chief coordinate any unmet needs. Listed below is a link to sign up for our alerting software. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out.
