Land Preservation Review Board
The Land Preservation Review Board (LPRB) came to life in January of 2014. This followed a favorable vote from 62% of the Township electorate in the prior November’s election to increase our Earned Income Tax (EIT) by 1/10th of 1% to fund the program.
Our purpose is identifying, pursuing, evaluating and recommending to the Board of Supervisors (BoS) properties of 10 or more acres in size containing open space, woodlands, farmland or wetlands that are deserving of preservation.
The funding generated by the EIT increase is used to place conservation easements on the BoS approved properties through either a nonprofit Land Trust organization or the Cumberland County Farmland Preservation program. The landowners of these approved properties are paid for the conservation easement by the Township purchasing the development rights for their property. Thus, the property is preserved and protected from further development in perpetuity.

Meetings are tentatively scheduled for the third Thursday of every month at 5:30 pm and are held at the Township Administration Building, located at 8 Flowers Drive in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
