Tax Collector Dates/Pay Online
Tax bills for Cumberland County and Silver Spring Township are typically mailed March 1. This includes a property tax of County/Library/Township/Fire and a Township per capita tax bill. The Per Capita tax bill is for all residents age 18 and over. This does include students, retirees, and renters. Please notify the tax office to be added to the per capita tax rolls if you do not receive a bill.
Tax bills for the school are mailed July 1 and this is a real estate tax. If this is your only residence, you may receive a homestead credit on that bill. There is a small window of opportunity to apply for this credit. It is December 15 through March 1. The application is available through the Cumberland County Assessment Office.
The state also offers a rebate program for certain taxpayers based on age and income. That information can be found at:

All tax bills are mailed to the taxpayer. If your property taxes are in escrow, please forward a copy of the tax bill to them. They do not pay the per capita tax.
The tax office is limited for in person payments. There is a large, locked drop off box outside of the tax office door or payments may be mailed. You may also use the credit card payment link. See below for details.
Please contact Tax Collector Debra Basehore Wiest with any questions or concerns and reasonable accommodations will be made to handle any other business.

In addition to cash and check payments, credit card payments are now accepted online. Please click on the button below to enter your online payment. There is a 2.4% bank processing fee added to your online payment with a minimum of a $1 fee. The 2.4% fee will be based on the amount of your bill. You may pay more than one bill at a time. After submitting your payment, GovPayNet will send the payment information to the tax collector for approval. Your bill will not be considered paid until it is approved by the tax collector. Thank you.
