Soliciting/Peddling Permit
The Transient Merchants Permit, otherwise known as a Solicitation or Peddling Permit, allows for the offering of goods, wares, services, or merchandise by visitation to private residences; see Ordinance 2018-05, for rules and specifications governing its issuance and use.
Each person must file his/her own application form and shall be responsible for a non-refundable application processing fee of $25.00. A comprehensive background check shall be processed for each application and may take up to three weeks to complete.
An individual permit is required for each solicitor and/or peddler. Permits are not transferable from one person to another. The permit fee is $75.00 in addition to the application processing fee and is valid for up to 3 months. Permit holders are required to obtain a photo ID issued by the Silver Spring Township Police Department and must display said ID in clear view while in the process of prompting goods and/or services.
