Mission:

C.A.M.P. Silver Spring enriches the lives of all children and youth by creating a safe environment to explore and learn the importance of health and wellness, nature, community and team building in an active setting. 

Camp Goal:

The goal of C.A.M.P. Silver Spring is to provide a fun and safe learning environment that is play-based and helps children build self-esteem, responsibility, resourcefulness, and cooperation through planned activities and experiences.

School may be out, but the learning doesn't stop at C.A.M.P. Silver Spring! Quality camp experiences help to develop healthy emotional and social skills that are necessary for children to grow. This 9-week program runs Monday through Friday and offers a play-based learning environment for both campers and staff. In 2019, we adopted a new 'Culture of Health' program to ensure kids are physically active for at least 2 hours a day. Staff will work with nearby professionals in the health industry to give kids the tools they need to help identify healthy foods and activities that they can incorporate at home.

Registration:

Online registration for 2020 will open in the first week of February. The program begins shortly after school concludes (June) and runs through early August.    

Staff:Staff Training Presentation

The Rec Department staff handles communication with parents on registration prior to the start of the program and works on the pre-planning. Once the program begins, the Camp Director takes over the coordination and planning of daily activities and managing day-to-day operations. We employ counselors who are trained and required to provide satisfactory clearances prior to joining the team. Each employee must also have a current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification. 

Open positions will be advertised in January and February of 2020.
