Effective August 10th: In effort to decrease the chance of accidental exposure, we have decided to roll out a Team A and Team B approach. During normal business hours, only half of the normal staff will be on-premise with the other half working from home. There should be no delay or issue with assistance but if problems do occur, please contact the Township Manager.

Open to the public, Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm. Upon arriving, remember to wear a mask. When you arrive, ring the bell for entry. We are temporarily limiting the capacity in the lobby to one (1) person at a time. We ask that you socially distance and stay 6 feet from the reception window. Do not enter the building if you have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, diarrhea, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell. There is a drop-box at the main door for bill payments. Credit card and check payments are accepted. A bin is available for bulky items only during regular business hours. Call when dropping-off bulky items. Standalone Zoning or Stormwater Permit Applications can be emailed or mailed to the Township. Approved permits can be picked-up at the Township office given prior arrangements have been made. Building and Codes

Due to COVID-19 and a Declaration of Emergency, certain temporary tent structures may be exempt from building permits and building inspections. Please contact the Building and Codes Department for more information. Exemption forms and all other building permit applications can be found here.

Use the call box to the right of the police office main door to contact the 911 center or call dispatch at (717) 238-9676, (or 911) on your cell phone. Joint  Compost Facility

Open to residents and contractors between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. The facility is closed on Sundays. Masks must be worn. View other changes to operations.  

Trash & Recycling Services

Yard Waste collection follows your regularly scheduled collection in May - view map. Bulk item collection resumed May 4th on the next collection day. We will collect one bulk item per week per residence. For more information on billing or general questions, visit or call (717) 767-4456.

Silver Spring Tax Office 

Closed to walk-in traffic. A drop box is available by the tax office door. On May 13, 2020, the Board approved Resolution 2020-15, extending the deadline for payment of property taxes through October 31, 2020, without penalty. This extension corresponds with the payment extension as approved by the Cumberland County Commissioners. For more information on tax collection and payments, visit the local tax page.
