Vincent DiFilippo Nature Preserve

In the near future the Vincent DiFilippo Nature Preserve will be undergoing a few changes. These changes are to manage stormwater, improving water quality, while also providing better habitat for the various species that call the preserve home. In order to complete this work, the Township applied for and was awarded a Watershed Restoration and Protection Program Grant and Cumberland County Land Partnerships Grant. The Township will be working closely with partnering entities to improve the preserve to a native species sanctuary.

In order to meet MS4 goals bioswales and stream restoration aspects will be completed throughout the park, improving the water quality of the Conodoguinet Creek. Additionally, the riparian buffer will be extended with native trees and meadow areas. These areas will provide food and shelter for many types of animals in the preserve, as well as provide a scenic walking trail composed of native foliage.

To improve accessibility and use of the park, the Township will also be expanding the parking area and adding a boat launch for water access. The parking area will be expanded with a type of pervious paver to ensure the least amount of impact to water quality.
