What are the rules for door-to-door solicitation of goods?

The Township allows for the offering of goods, wares, services, or merchandise by visitation to private residences. Solicitors must obtain a soliciting permit (fee required) before doing business. Click the link below for rules and specifications governing this permit. An application must be completed along with a background check before a permit is issued. This process takes approximately three weeks. The permit is non-transferable and is valid for up to three months. Ask solicitors to see their permit. If they do not have one, please contact the Silver Spring Police Department at 717-697-0607.
